Lancer 3

The next chapter of our community is here.

Welcome Back to City Eight

Lancer 3 returns to the City 8 we know and love, but it takes a trip through the past to get there. Set in the year 2006, the game explores the events that led to the rise of the City 8 we came to know in Lancer 2, and what life was like only 4 years after the 7-Hour-War. Set in the same universe but on a different timeline, the game acts as a loose prequel to Lancer 2.

New Engine

Lancer 3 is built on a brand-new 'Roleplaying Gamemode Framework': Crowlite. Crowlite was built by us, from the ground up, to grant us the freedom to transform our ambitious vision into reality. Taking development, aesthetic, and stylistic cues from the likes of Clockwork, Helix, and even Combine Control, Crowlite has been shaped to be a powerful tool that makes the development process faster, easier, and more efficient, and the gameplay experience more enjoyable and immersive.

Gameplay

Crowlite, and by extension Lancer 3 - at least, in the way we originally envisioned it - is far from complete. In the spirit of giving you, our players, something to play sooner rather than later, we have opted to release the server in an 'Alpha' state. This means that while the game will be playable, it will be far from complete, and will likely contain bugs, missing features, and other issues. With your feedback, we will be working around the clock to release updates and patches in a vertical slice format, adding new features and content as we go along.

Roleplay Freedom

As with Lancer 2, Lancer 3 will grant you complete freedom to do whatever you want and shape the world to your will. No nonsense Out-Of-Character rules or applications, no arbitrary restrictions that dictate how you should play your character. So long as everything remains grounded in reality, follows the laws of physics, and keeps the game fun for everyone, your roleplay will not be interfered with.

Factions

Combine

Civil Protection, the Alien Regime's quasi-paramilitary police force, and by extension the Combine itself, is still organizing itself and determining the best way to control the remaining human population around the globe. With Civil Protection replacing the 'Proselyte Project' only a year before the events of Lancer 3, their structure and rulesets are quite loose, enabling players to have more freedom in how they roleplay their characters and increasing the potential for interesting and unique stories to emerge, with a few less risks of character loss.

Resistance

With the Global Resistance Network still in its infancy, any insurgency or rebel group in City 8 and other cities around the globe is isolated to small cells, each with their own goals and methods. Players will have a direct impact on the development of the Resistance, shaping it into the powerful and organized force that it is destined to become, or keeping it as a loose collection of small groups that are constantly at odds with each other.

Combine Civil Authority

The Combine's political landscape is still very much in flux, with the Global Cabinet still early in its infancy. There is no Governor, no Precinct Cabinet, or any other low-level political figures. Just the City Administrator, governing with an iron fist. It is up to the players to decide which path to take, and how to shape the future of the Combine's political affairs in the precinct.

Engineer Core

The Combine's human, paramilitary-adjacent Engineering Division - representing the backbone of Earth's urban integration under Combine occupation. Responsible for constructing, maintaining, and repairing the city's infrastructure, energy management, and transit reconstruction. With the Civil Workers' Union yet to be formed, the Engineer Core remains as the only organization that can provide the necessary manpower to keep the city functioning. With the players' influence, the faction has potential to grow into something larger that also involves business and commerce, or be phased out entirely.

Businesses

With no official regulations governing business or commerce, free trade reigns unchecked throughout the precinct. Civilian-run enterprises operate in a largely unregulated environment. No rent to pay, no quotas to meet, and no oversight to answer to. While this fosters rapid entrepreneurial growth and innovation, it also creates fertile ground for exploitation and illicit dealings. In such a system, profit often trumps ethics, and the line between legitimate business and criminal enterprise begins to blur.

Proselytes

With Nova Prospekt still yet to be fully operational and Transhuman Soldiers still a distant concept to the Combine, the CCA is in need of a competent escort service to ensure the safe transport of its personnel and resources. Composed of highly trained, old-world military forces that once patrolled the streets and were the primary power-transitionary force of the Combine, the Proselytes are now primarily tasked with providing personal security and logistical support for the Combine's operations around the globe.

Citizens

Despite the Combine's occupation of the planet, the world still remains a blank slate for those willing to shape it. Civilians can choose to embrace the new order, contributing to the reconstruction of society under alien rule, or join the growing insurgency, working from the shadows to undermine their occupiers. Others may remain neutral, choosing instead to wait it out and adapt. They make colleagues, find work, engage in the economy, and even dip into politics - each trying, in their own way, to carve out a better life amidst the uncertainty.
